HPLC Calculations
Column Efficiency - a measure of the theoretical plates (N). Where tr is the retention time of the analyte, w is peak width at a given height. When w = half peak height, a =5.54, when w = tangent a =16.
----------------------
Capacity Factor - a measure of retention of a given compound relative to an unretained peak. Where tr is the retention time of the peak, and to is the unretained peak
----------------------
Selectivity - a measure of the resolution between two compounds.
----------------------
Resolution - a measure of the distance between two adjecent peak apex's, divided by the average base width of both peaks.
----------------------
Asymmetry - a measure of peak symmetry. Where b = apex to tail of peak, and a = apex to front of peak.
----------------------
Tailing Factor - a measure of the symmetry of the peak. Where W0.05 = peak width at 5% height, and f = distance form front of peak to apex point at baseline.
